Why Did Rotarians Undertake the Initiative to Eradicate Polio?

In 1982-83, Rotarians in Mabalacat, Pampanga, Philippines thought they could make life safer for themselves, their families and their province if they ridded Mabalacat of polio. Networking with other local organizations, they did. Their story spread throughout the Rotary network, and Rotarians, thinking they could do the same thing in their social fabrics, did.  Today the world is a safer place because endemic polio has almost been eliminated, the result of Rotarians advancing the Object of Rotary

Throughout the world Rotarians continually make the world a better place - one community at the time - simple because they think they can.
